Kimolos Island

Kimolos is a volcanic island. It has many beautiful beaches and a sea that makes us proud of its transparent purity. It has been continuously inhabited for over 6,000 years and the traces of history are evident in your every step. According to tradition, its first mythical inhabitant was Kimolos, to whom it owes its name. It was also known as Echinousa, probably because of the echinacea (viper) chalk that still abounds on the island today. In the Middle Ages and until the times of the Greek Revolution of 1821 it was called Arziantiera or Argentiera, a word of Venetian origin, due to its silver-colored rocks

in the south (argento = silver in Latin). In the center of Kimolos you will visit the Medieval Castle, the museums (Archaeological and Folklore) and the very important post-Byzantine churches. You will walk in the amazing alleys of the island and try the local delicacies.
